Building a PAWsitive Future

The Berkeley Animal Center is dedicated to providing a “live-saving community” of temporary shelter and excellent care for a variety of homeless, abandoned and neglected animals across Berkeley County. However, in recent years, the shelter has experienced severe growth pains. Both too small and outdated to accommodate its rapidly rising animal population, the shelter is in critical condition, making it difficult for shelter officials to administer adequate care. Together, these challenges reveal the Animal Center’s dire need for a new, larger facility.
In 2020 alone, more than 5,600 animals—from dogs and cats to rabbits, horses, goats, chickens and more—were brought to the Animal Center to receive necessary shelter and care. Through the public’s continuous generosity, the shelter has been able to care for thousands of animals annually since 2017.
In response, the Animal Center would like to especially applaud and recognize the individuals who offer significant contributions to its many lifesaving programs and services. Through our current “Building a PAWsitive Future” fundraising campaign, we are offering naming opportunities for donors who sponsor a room or space in our future facility.
Such donors will not only receive a permanent plaque including their name but also, if they choose, an honorarium or memorial for a loved one or pet showcasing the honorary person, group or pet’s name. The sponsor plaques will be displayed on the Wall of Giving in the new shelter’s main lobby. Please note, that no contribution is too small; we strongly believe that your support, at any contribution level, will help make a positive difference in the lives of our animals.
